Profile THE ROLE The position of Lubbock Services Area Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is a physician leadership position.
As such, it carries a higher degree of responsibility and expectation.
The Service Area Chief Medical Officer provides leadership and management for the Lubbock Service Area Hospitals to ensure the efficient, safe, effective and high quality delivery of inpatient and outpatient services; provides leadership that ensures effective functioning of programs in matters of strategic planning, program development, and clinical quality; works collaboratively in a matrix model to ensure the effective development and implementation of services to the communities served, including physicians in the community, position the program to be responsive within a highly managed healthcare environment; aligns program goals with hospital or entity and service area goals.
The Service Area CMO is responsible for establishing and maintaining key relationship with the Lubbock Service Area Chief Executive, Hospital Administrators, Chief Nursing Executives, Chief Quality Officer, and Executive Directors.
The CMO collaborates with Chiefs of Staff and Medical Directors to promote the success of the Programs and services related to Rehabilitation Services.
Our cornerstone ministries that this position will oversee are located in Lubbock, Texas - Covenant Medical Center, Covenant Childrens Hospital, Covenant Specialty Hospital and Grace Surgical Hospital.

977 licensed beds More than 5,000 employees More than 600 physicians on staff Average daily patient census of 400 28,250 annual discharges 62,000 annual adult Emergency Department visits 25,500 annual pediatric Emergency Department visits ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responsible for managing clinical operations, liaising between the administration and medical staff, and ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of safe, effective medical services to the patients and communities.
Liaise with Central Division CMO committees, Executive Physician Advisory Committee, Physician Advisory Committee and TTU School of Medicine GME Committee Develops relationship in the healthcare community to strengthen Covenant Healths connections, visibility and collaborative partnerships to sustain our Mission and Integrated Strategic Financial Plan.
Listens and participates in resolving multi-faceted concerns of patients, families, staff and/or physicians.
Monitors and improves the quality and standards of care as well as the appropriate utilization of services.
Ensures that all healthcare regulations and safety standards are met.
Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships with academic programs.
Provide strategic and visionary input to transform the delivery of care, establishing a consistent patient experience by enhancing clinical integration and standardization of care across all service area ministries.
Oversee the acute care environment with an ability to influence the medical group, ambulatory operation, clinical institutes, and population health to build patient-centered care across the Lubbock Service Area.
In collaboration with leadership, plan and implement continuous improvement initiatives to achieve efficient overall standard of high-quality clinical outcomes as characterized by best practices, and objectively measured against national benchmarks.
Ensure transparency and clarity of quality and safety goals and performance against each by measures.
Facilitate the creation of aligned clinical operating model across the Lubbock Services Area, engaging physicians in healthcare transformation that is data driven and accountable for high quality, efficient value-based care.
QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of medical school.

Medical Degree.
5 years of experience in a progressive Physician leadership role.
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative way with a variety of multi-disciplinary systems, organizations and people with diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated expertise in analysis, decision making, time management, oral and written communication and medical informatics.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
