Summary:
Under general supervision, patrols assigned areas of the CHS campus to deter, detect and investigate crime and/or any suspicious activity, which could cause harm to individuals or property. Provides information and assistance to patients, employees and visitors. Writes detailed incident reports, and various other reports as required. Takes and maintains control of disruptive individuals for arrest by Lubbock Police Department, when situations warrant this action. Primary emphasis is placed on the safety of the individual and loss prevention. After completion of classroom and practical instructions, will at all times while on duty carry Department issued handcuffs and non-lethal device. Essential Function:
Responsible for patrolling assigned areas, on foot or by vehicle, providing service and protection for the CHS campus community. Detects and identifies any suspicious person(s), accidents, various public service calls and other miscellaneous incidents. Responsible for responding to crimes in progress, crimes that have already occurred, disturbances, suspicious persons, accidents, various public service calls and other miscellaneous incidents. Investigates complaints, criminal incidents, suspicious activity and accidents. Prepares detailed written offense/incident reports. Provides general information and assistance to patients, visitors and employees, including safety-related escorts as requested, to various campus locations. Collaborates with various CHS campus department personnel and external agencies to gather and exchange information; promote departmental services provided to the campus community. Assure proper working order of departmental equipment; notify appropriate personnel when repairs and/or maintenance are necessary. Screen and intervene as necessary to confront and restrain hostile and abusive persons in a manner necessary to reduce risk of personal injury to patients, visitors or employees, and to minimize the disruption of the CHS campus operations. Attend Department provided training for the use and application of handcuffs, and will successfully pass written and practical tests and will carry Department issued handcuffs at all times while on duty. Attend Department provided training for the use and application of the Guardian 8 Pro V2 non-lethal device, and will successfully pass written and practical tests and will carry Department issued Guardian 8 at all times while on duty. Minimum Position Requeirements
Experience:
1 year Work experience in a customer service related working environment using basic computer skills. Licenses and Certifications:
Texas (Class C) Driver's License. Must have or be able to obtain Texas Non-Commission Security Officer Registration from the Texas Private Security Board within 5 days of employment. Preferred Position

Education:
Coursework/Training 30 hours of higher education coursework. Coursework/Training Documented customer service training.
Experience:
1 year Security, Law Enforcement or Military Police experience, preferably within a hospital or campus environment.
