Engineering Technician

Specialized
Experience:
Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. Qualifying experience for GS-04 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-03 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience adjusting, installing, or repairing engineering equipment or working with engineering design programs; and recording or evaluating experimental data. OR Education:
Successful completion of 2 years of post-secondary study that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. Related degrees may include engineering, engineering or industrial technology, mechanical engineering, agricultural engineering, electrical engineering, agricultural systems management, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, mathematics. OR A combination of education and experience as described above. At the GS-05:

Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are:
Qualifying experience for GS-05 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-04 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience adjusting, installing, or repairing engineering equipment or working with engineering design programs; recording or evaluating experimental data; and preparing or summarizing results obtained through equipment tests or evaluation. OR Education:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation, if required. Related degrees may include engineering, engineering or industrial technology, mechanical engineering, agricultural engineering, electrical engineering, agricultural systems management, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, mathematics. OR A combination of education and experience as described above. At the GS-06:

Experience:
Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. Qualifying experience for GS-06 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience adjusting, installing, or repairing engineering equipment or working with engineering design programs; recording or evaluating experimental data; preparing or summarizing results obtained through equipment tests and evaluation and using appropriate computer software in assembling and tabulating data. OR Education:
Successful completion of one full year of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position. Related degrees may include engineering, engineering or industrial technology, mechanical engineering, agricultural engineering, electrical engineering, agricultural systems management, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, mathematics. OR A combination of graduate education and experience as described above. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
