Front Desk Receptionist

Greetings, future colleagues!

My first job was scooping ice cream and assembling treats at Baskin Robbins.  I loved my job.  I enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life and chatting a bit while I served their ice cream.  I looked forward to my “regulars” arrival and had their treats of choice ready or at least started by the time they arrived at the door.

My boss and team were awesome.  We worked as a team.  We were respectful of one another and supported one another.  It wasn’t unusual for one or more of us to hang out after closing until everyone was safely picked up or in their vehicles.  On sports playoff days we would gather early at the store to get supplies ready and organize our assembly line so we would be ready for half-times and breaks in the games.

That being said, you are probably reviewing at my resume and wondering why I am applying at a clerical positon when I have a degree in elementary education and am a certified teacher.

I appreciate my experience as a teacher and was able to work with some great students and families.   I enjoyed the customer service aspect of teaching and building relationships.    I think a position such as yours  would provide the team atmosphere and service to others that I enjoyed while serving ice cream.

My years of experience as an instructional assistant, classroom teacher and substitute teacher have equipped me with a multitude of skills and I view this position as a means to expand upon my existing skills and grow with your current team. I understand the importance of solid communication and organizational skills as well as respectful, consistent customer service.

Throughout my career I have enjoyed working with and meeting a variety of people from many walks of life.  I have not only planned and implemented lesson plans both independently and with a team, but various community events, such as reading nights and parent-teacher conferences. I believe that this is applicable to building solid relationships for good customer service.

I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to determine if my current skills and abilities meet your staffing needs.  I look forward to hearing from you to schedule an interview.
